DEATHS
SIMMONS.—On the 9th March, at Springfontein, South Africa, on active service, from enteric fever. Trooper Ralph Simmons, Fifth S.A. Contingent, the beloved husband of Maggie May Simmons, aged 27 years, leaving a sorrowing wife and child to mourn their loss. Jeffcott-street, North Adelaide.

Biography
Trooper Ralph Simmons of the 5th South Australian Imperial Bushmen Contingent was born at Reedbeds, [Now Underdale] Adelaide, South Australia on 16 June 1874. Immediately before the war he and his wife Maggie with their child lived at Jeffcott Street North Adelaide. Trooper Simmons died of enteric fever at Springfontein, 09 March 1902; he was 27 years of age.
