Biography contributed by Faithe Jones
Private Colin Stirling was the eldest son of Mrs. James Stirling of Rome Street, Newtonw, Toowoomba, and was about the youngest member of the Australian Contingents. Before proceeding to the war he was in the employ of the Toowoomba branch of the Q.N. Bank, and when his resigation was sent in he was asked to reconsider it and remain with the bank. He, however, declined, being determined to try his luck in South Africa, with the sad result stated. The deppest smpyathy is manifested for Mrs. and Mrs. Stirling in their very sad bereavement.
