"From a Melbourne bicycle factory to an armourer's workshop in Korea has been the experience of 12890 Sergeant (Sgt) Ronald Robert (Ron) Butlin of Southport, Qld, in the past two years. Sgt Butlin joined the Australian Regular Army in 1952, and has been in Korea with the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), for the past three months. Before joining up Sgt Butlin was a cycle builder in Melbourne, but now is Battalion armourer. Sgt Butlin has had quite a lot of service as a soldier. He joined the AIF in 1940, and served with the 9th Division as a member of the Australian Heavy Battery in New Guinea..." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
