9 Mar 1969:	Wounded 5411605, 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (5RAR), On 9th March 1969 2nd Lieutenant Walker was leading his platoon through a mine field at night when a mine was detonated killing Sergeant Bernard Smith and Corporal Geoffrey Gilbert. Friendly ARVN forces hearing the explosion opened fire killing 2nd Lieutenant Walker.
