Reg son of Athur Halsall and Elizabeth Jane Bell enlisted in December 1940 and was attached to the 8th Light Horse Regiment. However horses were out by this time and it was in fact the 20th Motorised Unit carrying on the old Regimental name. Reg served in New Guinea against the Japanese and was transferred to 2nd 10th Infantry Battalion for thirteen months. He had two and a half years service before being discharged on 5th October 1944 as shown on Veteran report. On his return Reg lived on the original farm his Grandparents selected and his house was built on the site of the old family home.
