Stanley was the second of three children of John Michael Pratt (b1884 in Yass, NSW) and Florence Ann Brenner (b1889 in Murrumburrah, NSW). John - a Labourer - and Florence married in 1912 at Grenfell, NSW, and settled at Baree Plains where they raised their family.

In 1942 Stanley was a Labourer at Myalla via Quindilla, NSW when he enlisted in the Australian Army. He was a Private (Service Nos:NX104244/N201695) attached to 2/10 Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged in August 1944.

Stanley returned to Myalla, where he was a Labourer in 1954 when he married Rosie Irene Heidtmann (nee Salisbury; b1912 in Woonona, NSW). Stanley and Rosie settled at Myalla where Stanley was a Labourer. He died in 1996 and Rosie died in 2002.
