Honoured
Military Medal, Corporal John McGREGOR 'This N.C.O. who was in charge of five squads of stretcher bearers on 26th September, 1917, and 27th September, 1917, evacuating wounded from the R.A.P. to the north of POLYGON WOOD, showed great courage and determination throughout. The track along which the wounded were evacuated was constantly under heavy shell fire. When one of his bearers became a casualty he took the vacant place in the squad and then succeeded in keeping the lien of evacuation clear. His coolness and courage proved a great incentive to the bearers under his supervision, and aided very largely in the successful evacuation of the wounded.' (Sgd.) G.W.
