Private William Rennie Allan (Service Nos:QX12276/Q76431) enlisted in the Australian Army in March 1941 and served in the Middle East, New Guinea and Borneo. He was attached to 2/31st Infantry Battalion when he Discharged in March 1946.
Born in 1915 in Ebbw Vale in Ipswich QLD, Bill was the third of four children of James Allan (b1887 in Lanarkshire, Scotland) and Mary McDonald Wood Rennie (b1884 in Edinburgh, Scotland). James (a Coal Miner) and Mary (a Shirt Machinist) married in 1909 in Scotland and emigrated in 1912, arriving in Brisbane, QLD with their first child on board the Waipara. The family settled in Ipswich where James was a Coal Miner. James served in WWI (Service No:2)
Bill was a Labourer in Bundanba, Ipswich QLD, and in July 1946 ( following his Discharge in March 1946) in Ipswich QLD married Freda Joan Morris (b1928 in Ipswich, QLD). Bill and Freda settled in Ipswich - Bill worked as a Check Weightman in Booval before moving to Bundamba where he worked as a Clerk. Bill died in 1973 and Freda in 2016.
