Stanley was the second of three sons of Peter Robinson Anderson Snr (born 1874 in Scotland) and Elizabeth Anne Hebbard-Barlow born 1883 in Yengarie, QLD. Peter Snr and Elizabeth married in 1920 and settled in Wondai, QLD where Peter Snr was a Labourer.
Stan was a Sawmiller in Gympie, QLD when he enlisted in the ACMF as a Private (Service No:Q136331). He completed his training with 29 Infantry Training Battalion and served with 58/59 Infantry Battalion in New Guinea (New Guinea: 16/05/1943 - 11/08/1944; Atherton: 26/09/1944 - 24/12/1944; Bougainville: 23/12/1944 - 17/10/1945). Stan was WiA in September 1943 (GSW to arm and back) and was Discharged on 2 November 1945. Brother Peter Robert Anderson (Private; Service No:Q25464) also served in WWII.
In August 1944 Stan married Dulcie Jean Butler (born 1923 in Gympie, QLD) in Gympie, and following his Discharge, Stan and Dulcie settled in Gympie where Stan worked as a Sawmiller and later as a Wardsman. Stan died in April in 2009 and Dulcie in October 2009.
