Eldest of three brothers (Len and Fred) who served in WWII, Private Kenneth Bailey (Service No:QX19236) served in the Militia with 5th Field Battery prior to serving in the AIF with 11 Training Battalion from 15 May 1941 to 16 October 1941 (Medically Unfit).
Ken was born in Brisbane QLD in 1920, fourth of seven children of Frederick William Bailey Snr (b1896 in Ipswich, QLD) and Esther Henricksen (b1896 in Gooburrum via Bundaberg, QLD). Fredrick and Esther married in 1917 in Brisbane, where they settled and raised their family and Frederick was a Furniture Remover, Carter and Manufacturer.
Ken worked as a Tanner in Brisbane before enlisting in the Army, and in 1944 in Brisbane married Mary Eileen Kelly (b1924 in Brisbane, QLD). Ken and Mary settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Ken worked as a Tanner. In the early 1950s the family moved to Bunyaville, where Ken worked as a Labourer, and in the early 1970s to Everton Hills, where Ken was a Manufacturer until retirement. Mary died in 2010 and Ken in 2012.
