Franz arrived in Sydney NSW in 1882 on board the Etna and was a Cigar Maker when he and Caroline married in Brisbane, QLD in 1894. Franz and Caroline settled in Brisbane where Franz was a Cigar Maker before moving their family to Gunyan Station in Texas, QLD in 1912 where Franz was a Farmer. In the mid 1920s Franz and Caroline returned to Brisbane and Franz resumed work as a Cigar Maker.

Cecil worked in Innisfail QLD as a Cane Cutter and Yardman at the Imperial Hotel before settling in Brisbane in the mid 1930s and working as a Labourer. Following his service in the ACMF, Cecil returned to Innisfail where he worked as a Cane Cutter/Labourer until the mid 1950s when he returned to Brisbane.
