Signalman Graham Barter (Service Nos:QX59335/Q266827) first enlisted in the ACMF as a Private/Driver on 28 November 1942. He served with 33 Infantry Training Battalion and 23 Field Park Coy RAE before enlisting in the AIF on 23 November 1943. Signalman Barter was attached to 25 Line of Command Signals when he was Discharged on 22 February 1946.

Born in 1915 in Boonah Ipswich QLD, Graham was the only child of Albert John Barter (b1877 in Brisbane, QLD) and Amy Hilda Graham (b1871 in Brisbane, QLD). Albert (a Clerk) and Amy married in Brisbane in 1902 and by 1908 had settled in Boonah, Ipswich QLD where Albert was a Storekeeper and Farmer. In the 1920s the family settled in Brisbane where Albert was a  Produce Merchant. 

Graham worked as a Grocer's Assistant in Brisbane, QLD and in 1940 married Mabel Thelma Carlson (b1916 in Brisbane, QLD). Graham and Mabel lived in Brisbane, where Graham worked as a Shop Assistant. He died in 1992 and Mabel in 2010.
