Husband of Florence May Upton nee Smith of Gurners Street, Paddington, NSW. William and Florence married during 1910c in Young, NSW. Father of Frederick Upton.
26 April 1916 - enlisted at Liverpool, NSW, with the 30th Battalion and with the rank of Private.
17 October 1916 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Ajana disembarking on 8 December 1916 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.
Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal
15 January 1917 - discharged at the 2nd Military District as medically unfit due to deafness
