Private Thomas James Beeby (Service No:Q19087) served in the ACMF with 15 Battalion VDC from 20 August 1940 to 30 January 1946.
Born in Brisbane, QLD in 1917, Thomas was eldest of four children of John Joseph Beeby (b1885 in Cumberland, England) and Elizabeth (Bessie) McCaffery Bryson (b1893 in Glasgow, Scotland). John, a Coal Miner (Horse Driver) in Cumberland, and Bessie married in 1915 in Brisbane, where they settled and raised their family and John worked for the Railways as a Fireman and Engine Driver.
Thomas was a Printer in Brisbane when he enlisted in the Army, and in 1942 in Brisbane married Madge Edith Agnes Free (b1919 in Essex, England) - Madge, a Fibre Worker in Brisbane, immigrated in 1927, arriving in Brisbane with her parents and siblings on board the Orvieto. Thomas and Madge settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Thomas was a Carpenter until his death in 1981. Madge died in 2008.
