Son of Thomas Rochester and Mary Jane Rochester nee Thomas of Brook Street, Inglewood, Victoria. Brother of Hilda Sarah Rochester, Eric Rochester and Thomas James Rochester who was killed in action on 25 April 1918 while serving with the 57th Battalion and has no known grave; his name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial
