Hamlet was the third of five children of John Bradford (b1875 in Warwick, QLD) and Faith Harriet Alice Gray (b1890 in Brisbane, QLD). John (a Labourer) and Faith married in 1911 in Tenterfield, NSW and lived in QLD - Brisbane, Killarney and Wynnum - where John worked as a Labourer.

Hamlet was a Leadlight Worker/Glazier in Manly, Brisbane QLD in 1939 when he married Doris (Tay) Davies (b1918 in Brisbane, QLD). In 1940 Hamlet enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:Q192331). He was attached to 5 Motor Transport Coy AASC when he was Discharged on 23 September 1942 to enlist in the AIF the next day. Hamlet served (Corporal; Service No:QX42812) with 2/14 Transport Platoon AASC and was in New Guinea (1942/1943) and Morotai and Borneo (1945). He was Discharged on 22 October 1945.

Returning to Manly, Hamlet worked as a Glass Silverer and he and Tay were Divorced - Hamlet remarried in 1952 to Anne Harriet Jones (b1927 in Brisbane, QLD) - Anne was a Commercial Artist in Manly. Hamlet and Anne settled in Geebung, Petrie QLD where Hamlet worked as a Glass Silverer. He died in 2010 and Anne in 2020.
