This soldier served in the Somme area for four months during the Pozieres fighting. He was evacuated to England with neurasthania and debilty in late 1916 and was returned to Australia during February 1917 and discharged with a pension on 16 May 1917. He died in the Heatherton Sanitorium in Melbourne some 7 months later, 23 January 1918. He was 45 years of age.
