Son of Daniel Philip and Mary Hick, of 'Grahamvale', Shepparton, Victoria. Brother of Albert Henry Hick who returned to Australia on 15 May 1919 having served with the 14th Field Artillery Brigade and and Charles Daniel Hick who returned on Australia on 23 July 1919 having served with the 58th Battalion disembarking on 11 September 1919
