Son of Daniel O'Keefe and Margaret O'Keefe nee O'Brien of Bungaree, Ballarat, Victoria.
Brother of James Matthew O'Keefe who returned to Australia on 6 August 1919 having served with the 5th Pioneer Battalion; John O'Keefe who returned to Australia on 14 May 1919 having served with the 1st Pioneer Battalion; Peter Timothy O'Keefe who returned to Australia on 21 March 1918 having served with the 1st Pioneer Battalion; Edward Henry O'Keefe who returned to Australia on 1 August 1918 having served with the 5th Pioneer Battalion
Husband of Maud Veronica O'Keefe nee Guerin of Bridge Road, Glebe, NSW later of Footscray, Victoria. Daniel and Maud married during 1907c in Broken Hill, NSW.
Commenced return to Australia on 8 April 1917 aboard HT Barumba disembarking on 9 June 1917 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.
