James Alexander Piddington McILVEEN was born in 1895 in Moonbi via Tamworth, NSW
His parents were William McILVEEN and Elizabeth Catherine McCLELLAND who married in 1876 in NSW
He enlisted on 21st August 1916 with the Australian Army - he was a Private with the 36th Infantry Battalion -5th reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Benalla on 9th November, 1916
James died on 30th August, 1917 at the 3rd General Hospital, Le Treport, France after suffering a Cerebral Haemmorhage - he is buried in Mont Huon Military Cemetery in Le Treport, France - he is also commemorated on the Australian War memorial
He was awarded the British War medal and the Victory medal
