Kevin followed his older brothers John and Leonard into service.
He joined up at 18 years of age serving in the 2/2 Poineer Battlion. Kevin served as a 3 Morter man in Headquarter company. His service included the landings on Balikpapan and Tarakan.
Kevin shared little of his service with his family and did not march on ANZAC days for his own reasons however enjoyed watching his son march for him on a number of occassions.
His father John changed his name to Coulta from a Polish name as a minor to see service in WW1. He was 66 Dvr. John Lawrence Coulta (/explore/people/124958)
Kevin is a large man, similar to his father and brothers, however sort a peaceful life after returning from service.
His past times included growing vegtables, trees and tending his gardens, and this gave great enjoyment.
In the 50's Kevin was a fireman in Queensland before taking up his own business on a chicken farm. He travelled extensively after the war and married Rona from Western Australia.
He has three sons and one daughter, his wife passing in 1978, before he married again aged 65.
