Son of Michael Coffey and Margaret Coffey of Bond Street, Murrough, Wicklow, Ireland later of Kingstown, Dublin, Ireland

Previously served in the Royal Navy for 8 years with the rank of 1st Class Stoker

Commenced return to Australia on 9 March 1919 aboard HT Kashmir disembarking on the 3 May 1919

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

In February 1925 his mother wrote to Base Records asking if they had an address for John whom she believed was on a Soldier Settlement property. Base Records forwarded the letter to John at Elimbah, QLD
