Husband of Lilian Ethel Upson of Great Oakley, Harwich, Essex, England
Apprenticed to Norman of Harwick, England. Previously served in the Royal Navy for 3 years and with the United States Navy.
12 June 1915 - enlisted at Liverpool, NSW, with the 18th Battalion and with the rank of Private
1 February 1916 - transferred to the Imperial Camel Corps
24 February 1916 - promoted to Corporal but later reverted to Trooper
6 August 1916 - wound to the left thigh
Commenced return to Australia on 21 November 1916 aboard HT Ayrshire disembarking on 25 December 1916 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
Medals:1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal
2 February 1917 - discharged at the 2nd Military District
In July 1922 Ernest was employed with the Nigerian Railways, Ebute Metta, Nigeria, West Africa
