Lieutenant Marjorie Evans (Service No:QF140525) enlisted in the AWAS in March 1942 and progressed from Private to Lieutenant. Marjorie was described as being a 'Good reliable type - has mature definite manner, plenty of common sense, keen and interested in army matters.... suitable for promotion.' (National Archives Australia 1943). Marjorie served In Townsville, Redbank and Townsville and was attached to HQ QLD LoC Area when she was Discharged in February 1946.

Born in Ipswich, QLD in 1920, Marjorie's parents were Robert Mitchell Nicholas Badenock Evans (b1871 in Clackmannanshire, Scotland) and Euphemia Wilson (b1868 in Lanarkshire, Scotland). Robert (a Railway Bridge Builder) and Euphemia (a General Domestic Servant) married in Lanarkshire in 1901 and had emigrated to Australia by 1917. Robert worked as a Driller in Booval, Ipswich, QLD and both he and Euphemia died in 1949.

Marjorie worked in Booval, Ipswich QLD as a Typist prior to enlisting in the AWAS and following her Discharge worked in Brisbane as a Packer and Redbank as a Clerk. In 1954 Marjorie married George Alexander Muir Allan (b1916 in Ipswich, QLD) - George was a Coal Miner in Ipswich. The couple settled in Ipswich, QLD where George worked as a Miner until his death in 1963. Marjorie died in 1998.
