Son of James and Mary Archbold, of Newbury Junction, Mackay, Queensland.
"...3257 Private William James Archbold, 52nd Battalion, of Mackay, Qld. Formerly a farmer, Pte Archbold enlisted on 2 February 1916 and as a member of the 8th Reinforcements he embarked from Sydney, NSW, aboard HMAT Demosthenes (A64) on 23 December 1916. He later served on the Western Front with 41st Battalion where he was killed in action on 26 May 1918." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
