Staff Sergeant Denis Sylvester Floyd Jnr (Service No:Q64012) enlisted on 19 August 1940 as a Private (classified Fitter). He served in New Guinea (12 July 1942 - 17 December 1942) and was attached to 7th Infantry Brigade, 1 Australian Tank Workshop and 1 Advanced Water Craft Workshop AEME. Staff Sergeant Floyd was discharged on 15 November 1945.
Born in 1917 in Toowoomba QLD, Denis Jnr was the youngest of two children of Denis Sylvester Floyd Snr (b1890 in Sydney, NSW) and Abey French (b1885 in Warwick, QLD). Denis Snr was a Police Constable in Warwick QLD in 1912 when he and Abey married. They lived in Dalby, Warwick and Brisbane where Denis Snr worked as a Cattle Dealer, Commercial Traveller, Garage Proprietor and Salesman. Abey worked as a Dressmaker.
Denis Jnr was a Motor Mechanic in Brisbane QLD in 1940 when he married Kathleen Molloy (b1916 in Bundaberg, QLD). Denis and Kathleen settled in Brisbane, QLD where Denis worked as a Motor Mechanic and Clerk. Kathleen died in 2003 Denis in 2008.
