PRIVATE E. C. HANNAN.
The sad news that Private Edward Charles Hannan, 8th Battalion, second eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Hannan, of Spring Gully, was killed in action while fighting in France on 4th October, was conveyed to his parents by the Ven. Archdeacon Aickin on Saturday. Private Hannan enlisted 11th August, 1916, and embarked on the 1st October. 1916. He was rejected on first occasion. He was 21 years of age and lived all his life at Spring Gully. He was employed by Mr. Foley, contractor, of Spring Gully, prior to enlisting. He is the brother of Private C. W. Hannan, now at the front.
