Official notification was received today by Mr and Mrs G. Goodchap, of Kangaroo Point, that their son, Ordinary Seaman Charles Arthur Goodchap a survivor of the Perth, had been recovered from a prison camp in Japan. They also received a cable from their son saying, "Healthy and happy. Coming home soon." Ordinary Seaman Goodchap was reported missing after the sinking of the Perth oh February 28, 1942, but in January, 1949, his parents wore advised by the Navy Department that a Jap broadcast had announced he was a prisoner of war.
