Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Valentine was the eldest of two children of Thomas Henry Greer (b1897 in Brisbane, QLD) and Madge Forsayth McGory (b1896 in Brisbane, QLD). Thomas (a Carter) served in the AIF (Private; Service No:197) from 1915 to 1916 and in September 1917 he and Madge married. They moved to Maryborough, QLD where Thomas worked as a Railway Porter. Thomas and Madge were back in Brisbane in 1920 when Thomas died in November - a fortnight before the birth of their second child. Madge remarried in 1926.

Valentine enlisted in the Australian Army (Private; Service No:QX14678) in July 1940 and served for a month before Discharging to enlist in the RAAF. He was a Sergeant (Service No:23342) attached to 3 Personnel Depot when he was Discharged in November 1945. He married RAAF Flight Sergeant  (Service No:92377) Nina Elizabeth Mary Brady (b1920 in Sydney, NSW) in 1944.

Valentine and Nina lived in Brisbane where Valentine worked as a Salesman before they relocated to Redcliffe in the 1950s. Valentine was a Foreman and later Manager in Redcliffe, where he died in 1976. Nina died in 2012.
