Arthur De Boynton had two brothers killed at Pozieres during July and August of 1916, some few months before he even enlisted.

'.....At the conclusion of the meeting the Mayor very feelingly referred to the fact that Mr. de Boynton had received word that his third son had been killed in action. Mr. de Boynton gave three sons to fight for the Empire, all of whom had made the supreme sacrifice. The audience rose in silence as a mark of respect and sorrow to Mr. de Boynton and family...'
