Leslie HAFFENDEN was born on 2nd March, 1904 in London, England
His parents were William Henry HAFFENDEN and Phoebe Alice TURNER who married in Camberwell, UK in 1893
The family came to Queensland in 1911 & 1912 - Leslie arrived with his Mother Phoebe & some siblings in December, 1912 on the ship Marathon & his father William & two other brothers, William & Frank had previously arrived in Brisbane on 27th November, 1911 on the ship Otranto
On 3rd December, 1927 Leslie married Gladys BURKINS at St Pauls Church of England in East Brisbane
Leslie was living in East Brisbane & enlisted on 11th April, 1942 to serve in WW2
His last rank was a Sapper in the 61st Australian Infantry Battalion & he was discharged from the Army on 9th November, 1944
He died on 11th October, 1995, late of Leamington Nursing Home in Southport, Queensland and was cremated at the Mt Thompson Memorial Gardens

1. Frank HAFFENDEN (SN128) died of wounds in 1915 in WW1
2. Wilfred John HAFFENDEN (SN383) died of illness in 1916 in WW1
3. William Henry HAFFENDEN (SN302) returned to Australia in 1915
4. Stanley Jack HAFFENDEN (SN50641) served WW1 and returned in 1919 and also served in WW2 (SN401493)- discharged 1944
