Private Sydney Victor Hall (Service No:QX14366) initially served in the Militia (Trooper; Service No:74875) from 28 November 1936. He enlisted in the AIF on 9 July 1940 and served with 2/25 Infantry Battalion in Darwin NT (23 October 1940 - 15 February 1941) and the Middle East (7 April 1941 - 10 March 1943). Private Hall was attached to 2/25 Infantry Battalion on 31 August 1942 when he embarked with his Unit from Brisbane for Port Moresby. Wounded in Action (GSW to his head) at Gona Beach on 23 November, 1943, Private Hall was evacuated to Australia for treatment and Discharge on 28 August 1943 (Medically Unfit). Private Sydney Hall and his older brother Private William Alaric Hall enlisted and served together in the Militia and in the AIF with 2/25 Infantry Battalion.

Syd was born in Esk, QLD in 1915, second of eight children of William (Willie) Hall (b1888 in Bryden, QLD) and Gladys Smith (b1888 in Esk, QLD). Willie and Gladys married in 1912 in Esk, and in 1916 Willie joined QLD as a Railways Worker. He and Gladys lived in Esk, Toogoolawah and Yimbin via Esk before settling in Kilcoy.

Syd worked at Sheep Station Creek via Kilcoy as a Farm Hand, and in 1940 was a Casual Labourer in Kilcoy when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, Syd returned to Kilcoy and was working as a Labourer in 1949 when he married Lorna Pratt (b1924 in Kilcoy, QLD). Syd and Lorna settled in Kilcoy, where they raised their family and Syd worked as a Labourer. Syd died in 1967 and Lorna in 1993.
