Sam served in France and suffered from Mumps, Scabies and VC throughout his service.
He was found guilty and forfieted 7 days pay for Gambling in the Field 29 September 1916.
He was in charged with desertion and commited to 3 years sentence from 22 April 1918 and was released 23 April 1919 for ABD Havre. Remainder of Sentence commuted as from date of release.
Returned to England and then onto Australia per 'Beltana' 02 June 1919.
Discharged from AIF 10 September 1919
