Trooper Oliver John Hunt (Service No:QX20489) enlisted in the AIF in Rockhampton, QLD on 10 July 1941, and served with 2/5 Armoured Regiment until Discharge on 27 May 1946.
Oliver was born in Roma, QLD in 1922, only child of Charles Ernest Edward Hunt (b1897 in Brisbane, QLD) and Gladys Esther Victoria Thrupp (b1898 in Surat, QLD). Charles served in WWI (Private; Service No:6085) and following, his Discharge in 1919, returned to Roma and resumed employment with Queensland Government Railways (QGR) as a Locomotive Fireman. Charles and Gladys married in Kilcoy in 1921, and settled in Roma where Charles worked for QGR as a Locomotive Fireman until his death in 1924. Gladys remarried.
Oliver was working in Rockhampton as a Typewritier Mechanic when he enlisted in the Army and, following his Discharge in 1946, married Veronica Jessie Neal (b1920 in Gympie, QLD) - Veronica was a Typist in Gympie. Oliver and Veronica settled in Sandgate, Brisbane where Oliver worked as a Typewritier Mechanic until his death in 1968. Veronica died in 1995.
