Son of James and Eliza Simmons of Richmond River. Next of kin given of his brother Frank Wentworth Simmons of Brooklet, Rivhmond River, NSW. Other sibling are Ruby May Simmons, Rupert Wesley Simmons who returned to Australia on 12 July 1919 having served with the 12th Battalion, Beryl May Simmons, Raymond Simmons and Victor Rex Simmons who returned to Australia on 6 September 1919 having served with the 49th Battalion
