Newton Frederick Seymour LANE was born on 15th April, 1879 in Albrighton, Shropshire, England

His parents were Cecil LANE and Adela Mary BERTIE who married in England in 1876

He married Vera Adeline MAGRATH on 28th March, 1910 in Tasmania

He previously served in the South African War in the Imperial Yeomanry and came to Tasmania where he enlisted to served in WW1 at Claremont on 26th November, 1914 and embarked with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 1st reinforcements on the HMAT Thirty Six on 21st December, 1914

Newton was Killed in Action on 8th June 1917 - no known grave - his name is listed on the Australian War Memorial & the Ypres Memorial
