Son of Courtney and Elizabeth Boyland; husband of Amelia May Boyland (nee Gray), of Salisbury Street, Subiaco later Atkinson Street, Liverpool, NSW. Father of Harry Courtney Boyland and John Ernest Boyland.

Amelia was the first widow to her her house in Atkinson Street was built by the Voluntary Workers Association. Volunteers constructed the house and the furnishings were supplied by employees of local businesses
