Younger of the two brothers (Frank) who served in WWII, Corporal Albert Theodore Kamp (Service Nos:Q155137/QX62252) enlisted in the ACMF on 6 August 1942 as a Private - graded Blacksmith - and served with General Details Depot (GDD) and 3 Battalion RAE before embarking from Cairns for Buna on 12 November 1943 with 32 Docks Operating Coy on board the Bonteko. Private Kamp Discharged on 17 September 1944, enlisting 'in the field' in the AIF the following day - graded Technical Storeman. Promoted to Corporal on 3 March 1945, he served with 32 and 7 Port Operating Coys in New Guinea and embarked on 9 May 1945 from Moresby for Sydney on board the Marelle. Corporal Kamp was attached to 32 Port Operating Coy AATNC at Discharge on 29 January 1946.
Ted was born in Lowood QLD in 1912, youngest of eight children of Albert Gustav Adolph Kamp (b1880 in Tarampa via Lowood, QLD) and Emma Amalia Vorpagel (b1877 in Tarampa via Lowood, QLD). Albert and Emma married in 1898 in Lowood, and settled in Helidon where they raised their family and Albert was a Farmer.
Ted worked in Helidon as a Quarryman, and in 1942 in Brisbane married Josephine Elizabeth McKenna (b1911 in Clermont, QLD) - Josephine was a Teacher at Murphy's Creek via Helidon. Following his Discharge from the Army, Ted and Josephine settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Ted was a Metal Worker for QLD Electric Steel Coy. Ted died in 1961 and Josephine in 1974.
