14th /26th Battalion
Hans was part of the infantry of the 14th/26th reinforcements battalion. Hans left in August 1916 headed for Middle East to fight a lot of this time in Middle East Hans wasn't well once he was well enough he was sent to rejoin his battalion in Europe.
Hans fought in the European battles where sadly he lost his life just short of the end of the war.
Hans was born in the Lockyer Valley Queensland where he worked alongside his father and siblings on their farm and helping out with his older sister's properties when needed.
Hans started school at Mount Sylvia then onto Viewlands State School where he went for couple years.
Hans as the family describe him from his photos and stories from his siblings was a kind hearted, fun and cheeky young man who took his responsibilities serious. Went to many the local dances, attended Church, and enjoyed spending time with his friends from Junction View some these Hans joined up with and fought beside during his deployment.

Hans Christian Sorensen Lund was born on 1 February 1895 in little farming community in the Lockyer Valley Queensland.
Hans was the 4th eldest child and eldest son of Soren Jensen Lund and Alvilda Theodora Jensen-Lund both Danish immigrants. Hans had 3 brothers all younger and 5 sister's.
Hans was just 21 years old when he unlisted with his cousins and friends to go to war in 1916. Hans was never married and was survived by his mother after his father dying in 1917 and his 8 siblings and many nieces and nephews.
In his last known letter home which he wrote while in London on RnR for the last time he told his mother the war would be over soon and London was paradise compared to the hell of France.
Sadly just 2-3 weeks later his time had come and he was killed on 3rd October 1918 and 5 weeks short of the end of the war.
He never came home.
