Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board

Norman Windsor CLARKE, (Service Number 2195A) was born on 3 February 1897 in Sydney. He began working for the NSW Tramways as a cleaner in the Electric Trams section in Sydney on 7 Jan 1915. By May he had been released from duty to join the Expeditionary Forces. On his Attestation Papers he states that he is not married, claims four years’ military experience in the Senior Cadets, and gives his father as his next of kin.
He left Australia through Sydney on HMAT ‘Karoola’ on 16 June 1915.

Norman Windsor CLARKE, (Service Number 2195A) was born on 3rd February 1897 in Sydney. He began working for the NSW Tramways as a cleaner in the Electric Trams section in Sydney on 7th Jan 1915.  By May he had been released from duty to join the Expeditionary Forces. On his Attestation Papers he states that he is not married, claims four years’ military experience in the Senior Cadets, and gives his father as his next of kin.

He left Australia from Sydney on HMAT ‘Karoola’ on 16th June 1915.

 He joined the 3rd Australian Infantry Battalion at Anzac on 4th August 1915. He was  missing in action only three days later at Lone Pine. This was between 7th and 12th August 1915. In September it was found that he was killed in action.

He was at first buried in Browns Dip Northern Cemetery. He was exhumed in the rationalisation of cemeteries after the war. He is now interred in Lone Pine Cemetery, Anzac, 1⅜ miles S.E. of Anzac Cove.
