Son of John Thomas Osborne of Collett Road, Bermondsey, London, England. 

John was apprenticed to Thomas Hosking as a dockhand of shore works, London for five years.

Later changed to his wife Rose Ethel Osborne nee Frey of Aldminister Road, Bermondsey, London, England. John and Rose married on 23 July 1917 in the St. Mary Magdelan Church, Bermondsey, London, England. William H. McCaan officiated.
