| 12 Jul 1918: | Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 6445, 20th Infantry Battalion, "Peaceful Penetration - Low-Cost, High-Gain Tactics on the Western Front", Near Villers Bretonneux / Le Hamel. Based on Battalion war diaries it is presumed his wounds were a result of enemy artillery shelling which occurred sporadically over the course of three days before they were relieved by the19th Battalion. A number of soldiers were killed and only 1 recorded as wounded in the incident, As a consequence of his wounds he was repatriated to England and subsequently back to Australia 'invalid' for discharge. | |
