Stephen Henry TRUDGEN
In France with 21 Battalion in March 1916. In hospital with infection February 1917. On leave in England September, 1917. Returned to France October 1917. Wounded in Action 23 July 1918 s a result of a gas bombardment at Villers-Bretonneux overnight of 22/23 July. The whole battalion affected by mustard gas. Wounded a second time with gun-shot to abdomen during battalion attack towards Mont St. Quentin on 1 September, 1918, and the eventual taking of Peronne. Battalion came under heavy machine gun fire from the Mont. Casevaced to 20th Casualty Clearing Station at Heilly Station (Mericourt L'Abbe-Heilly-sur-Ancre). Died of Wounds the same day and buried at the hospital cemetery. He was aged 38 years.
