Fishing was his life.

Len Manski served as a member of the 2/2nd Pioneer Battalion in New Guinea and also on Tarakan Island. Following Tarakan he took part in the invasion of Balik Papan in Southern Borneo.

He was a professional fisherman in civilian life and at wars end he was tasked with catching fish to feed his unit on Morotai Island. He also fished in order to supplement rations whilst at Port Douglas prior to the Borneo campaign.

After the War he resumed professional fishing in the Maryborough area until his death at the young age of 40. He was the father of three sons and one daughter.
