Biography contributed by Evan Evans

Extracted by Trove, found by Rodney Volk

Donald Conelly (53  years) was an employee of Lock 16 on the Murray River.  Left home in a rowing boat with another man to go to town.  His companion stepped out of the boat for a time and when he returned Conelly was missing.  His body was recovered close to the spot. Investigations summised that as he had suffered a wound near the heart in WWI and was subject to sudden seizures.

Pte Donald Conelly was a returned soldier and the beloved husband of Hilda Conelly (nee Turnel?).  They had two children, Don and Nellie.
