Born in 1878 in Kyneton Victoria, William was the fourth of thirteen children of William Good Snr (b1844 in Kincardineshire, Scotland) and Elizabeth Miller (b1853 in Glasgow, Scotland). William Snr (an Agricultural Labourer) immigrated in 1868, arriving in Melbourne on board the Great Britain, and Elizabeth (a Domestic Servant) immigrated in 1869, arriving in Hobson's Bay, Victoria on board the Gresham. William Snr and Elizabeth married in 1871 in Kyneton, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and William Snr worked as an Estate Agent and Salesman.
William started work as a Chemist's Apprentice, and worked as a Chemist's Assistant in Geelong and Stawell prior to his enlistment in the AIF. Following his Discharge in 1919, William worked as a Chemist in Kyneton and, in 1920 in Melbourne, married Lillian Elizabeth Carrick (b1887 in Tungamah, Victoria) - Lillian was living in Melbourne with her parents. William and Lillian settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and William worked as a Salesman, Chemist and Labourer. William died in 1961 and Lillian in 1969.
