Private Bernard Patrick Molloy (Service Nos:QX55320/Q45368) initially enlisted in the ACMF on 18 December 1941 and was attached to 25 Australian Supply Coy AASC when he enlisted 'in the field' in the AIF. Private Molloy served in New Guinea (3 October 1942 - 11 November 1943) and New Guinea/Solomons (14 August 1944 - 27 December 1944 and 27 February 1945 - 7 December 1945). He was attached to 34 Supply Depot Coy AASC when he was Discharged on 20 December 1945.
Born in 1919 in Brisbane QLD, Barney was the youngest of eight children of Edward Thomas Molloy (b1880 in London, England) and Gertrude May Blogg (b1882 in Norfolk, England). Edward (a Packing Case Maker) and Gertrude married in London in 1901, and in 1908 immigrated, arriving in Brisbane QLD on board the Ormuz. The family settled in Bundaberg QLD where Edward worked as a Carpenter before enlisting in the AIF. Edward died in Brisbane QLD in August 1919 - four months before Barney's birth. Gertrude raised her family in Brisbane QLD.
Barney was a Mill Hand in Brisbane QLD when he enlisted in the ACMF and in 1942 married Violet Esther Bonnell (b1918 in Brisbane, QLD) - Violet was a Machinist. Barney and Violet divorced and by 1954 both had remarried. Barney was a Plymill Worker and Mill Hand in Brisbane where he lived with second wife Marie May. Barney died in 1962.
