It is quite possible that he was related to Captain Richard Hutchins who fell whilst serving with the 4th Bn.,Royal Munster Fusiliers

He was killed 13th May 1915 aged 39; he was from Ardnagashel which is at  Ballylickey near Bantry West Cork which is where Thomas' father lived.
