15th Australian Infantry, Australian Imperial Force killed in action 8th August 1915 aged 25. He was the son of Albert and stepmother Mary Hannah Mansfield, of 48, West Street, Penkhull, Stoke-on-Trent, England. 

He joined up on the 15th January 1915 aged 25 at Queensland, Australia. Prior to leaving England for Australia he worked for the North Staffordshire Railway Company. On the 16th April 1915 he embarked from Brisbane on H.M.H.S. A55 "Kyarra" for Gallipoli. On13th July 1915 he joined the 15th Battalion at Gallipoli Peninsula. He was reported wounded and missing on the 27th July 1915. On 28th August 1915 he was discharged from hospital fit for war service and he rejoined his unit in the field.

He is commemorated on the Saint Thomas Church War Memorial which is the Rood Screen at Penkhull, Staffordshire
