Funeral At Beaconsfield
The funeral of Mr. Richard Savage took place at the Beaconsfield cemetery on Thursday. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack, and former soldiers who followed wore red poppies. A large number of friends and relatives attended. The chief mourners were Messrs. W. Savage (son), R. Smith, and T. Roden (sons- in-law). The service at the graveside was conducted by Capt. Parkin- son (Salvation Army). The pall-bearers were Messrs. W. Hutchins, F. Jones, G. Kerrison, and C. Best, and the funeral arrangements were conducted by Mr. C. T. Finney.
Mr. Savage was in his 50th year, and was born at Devonport In 1889. He was the son of Mrs. and the late Mr. H. Savage, of Beaconsfield. He married Miss Elizabeth Berryman, of George Town, 30 years ago. He went to the Great War with the l2th Battalion, and was wounded. He had to spend must of his time In recent years at home or in hospital. His home was in Mulgrave St., Launceston. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son, Mesdames R. Smith and T. Roden, and Mr. W. Savage.
